Corporate mergers and aquisitions by Korean major companies jumped in the first nine months of this year.
According to market tracker CEO Score, mergers and acquisitions by top 500 Korean companies in the first three quarters of the year more than doubled from last year, for a total of just under W29 trillion (US$1=W1,178).
The number of deals came to 126, an increase of 31 percent. This year’s biggest deal was SK Hynix acquiring Intel’s NAND business for about W10.3 trillion. The firm with the most number of deals was Kakao, which acquired 23 companies.
