Son Heung-min of Tottenham Hotspur opened his Twitter account on Wednesday morning, making his first post.
“Hi everyone this is the real me, excited to open my twitter,” he tweeted.
His Twitter ID, Sonny7, is a combination of his nickname and jersey number.
It received a lot of attention from fans. Just five hours after his first tweet, the number of Son’s followers surpassed 155,000. The post received more than 179,000 likes and 5,400 comments.
As of Friday morning, it had attracted more than 280,000 followers not only from Korea and Europe, but also from all other parts of the world.
Even before opening his Twitter account, he actively communicated with fans on Instagram. The number of his Instagram followers recently passed 6 million.
